Savio Joins Tottenham for an £85m Deal

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Savio from Manchester City in a deal worth up to £85 million, adding another attacking option.

According to Sky Sports News, Spurs will pay £75 million for Savinho, with the add ons Manchester City are expected to receive at least £80 million from the transfer.

Tottenham have been trying to sign Savinho for more than a year and finally ended up the deal successfully. He will use the name Savio at Tottenham this season.

Tottenham Finally Land Long-Term Target

Tottenham are interested in Savio because of his abilityof adding speed, creativity, and one-on-one threat in wide areas. 

Tottenham weren’t able to sign him in the last transfer window, but they kept their interest and finally reached an agreement with Manchester City for £85 million.

According to Tottenham Hotspur, Savio’s rapid development from Atletico Mineiro to European football, with his breakthrough arriving during a successful loan spell at Girona. He made 41 appearances and scored 11 goals as Girona finished third in La Liga and qualified for the Champions League before moving to Manchester City in 2024.

Spurs Spending Moves Beyond £300m

Savio’s arrival takes Tottenham’s total summer expenditure beyond the £300 million mark, highlighting the scale of the club’s squad rebuild.

The investment reflects a clear effort to strengthen multiple areas of the team rather than rely on incremental additions. Savio becomes one of the highest-profile arrivals of Tottenham’s window and represents another substantial commitment to building a younger, more dynamic squad.

For Spurs, the challenge will now be converting that level of spending into improved results on the pitch. Integrating several new players within a short period can require time, but the club’s recruitment activity has provided the squad with significantly greater depth and competition.

Savio’s pace and technical ability should give Tottenham another option against both high defensive lines and deeper opposition blocks, while his experience in possession-based systems could help him adapt quickly to the demands of his new team.

Manchester City Secure Club-Record Sale

The transfer also represents a significant piece of business for Manchester City.

Savio’s potential £85 million departure becomes the most valuable sale in the club’s history, surpassing the £82 million deal that took Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2024.

Even if every performance-related clause is not ultimately triggered, City are expected to receive at least £80 million because of the structure of the agreement.

The deal further illustrates Manchester City’s ability to generate substantial transfer income from members of their first-team squad while continuing to reshape their playing group.

From Tottenham’s perspective, however, the focus will be on what Savio can contribute rather than the size of the fee. The Brazilian arrives as a long-term target at a point when Spurs are committing significant resources to improving their attacking quality and overall squad depth.
