Arsenal’s On The Mic: Raya, Trossard and Jorginho Try Commentary

Alan Smith asks three Arsenal players to narrate saves, long-range strikes and comeback goals before choosing the strongest voice behind the microphone.

Leandro Trossard watches Tottenham build an attack. Dejan Kulusevski releases Son Heung-min, whose cut-back finds Brennan Johnson inside the penalty area.

“Oh my word, what a save by David Raya,” Trossard calls.

Beside him, Raya listens as a teammate turns the save into live commentary. Trossard adds a forward’s detail: the goalkeeper sets his body before reacting.

In Betway’s On The Mic, the three exchange the pitch for a commentary desk. The footage is familiar; the right words are not.

What Is Arsenal’s On The Mic Challenge?

Former Arsenal striker and commentator Alan Smith introduces the task. Each player must speak over an Arsenal highlight and shape his delivery as the move becomes more dangerous.

Smith demonstrates first, identifying the players and developing pass before lifting his voice at the finish. His advice is simple: let the action build and make the decisive moment sound special.

The 90-second regional film embedded here shows selected attempts, not a complete session or detailed scoring system. Smith hears all three and offers an informal verdict.

How Does Trossard Describe Raya’s Save?

Trossard’s highlight comes from Arsenal’s 2–2 north London rivalry match with Tottenham on 24 September 2023. An Arsenal account of the save records the sequence: Kulusevski finds the overlapping Son, whose pass gives Johnson the shot Raya keeps out.

Trossard follows the move and raises his energy when Raya intervenes. He does more than express surprise, immediately pointing to the goalkeeper’s preparation before the attempt.

That is a player’s advantage behind the microphone. A supporter sees the reaction; a teammate can recognize the adjustment that made it possible.

Why Does Jorginho’s Villa Park Strike Need a Careful Call?

The next highlight returns to Arsenal’s 4–2 win at Aston Villa on 18 February 2023. With the score level in stoppage time, Jorginho shot from distance. The ball hit the crossbar, rebounded off goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez and crossed the line.

Arsenal’s account of its memorable wins at Villa Park records a Martínez own goal created by Jorginho’s long-range effort. That distinction becomes part of the fun in the booth. The call celebrates the quality of the strike and playfully places it in Puskás Award territory, although the official scorer was not Jorginho.

The first reaction captures the drama. The replay supplies the precision needed for the record.

How Does Trossard’s Chelsea Equalizer Change the Volume?

The final move comes from Arsenal’s 2–2 draw at Chelsea on 21 October 2023. Mikel Arteta’s side trailed by two before Declan Rice reduced the deficit. In the 84th minute, Trossard met Bukayo Saka’s cross to complete the recovery.

Arsenal’s full-match replay page describes Rice and Trossard as the scorers who brought the team back from 2–0 down.

The call reaches its point quickly: “Goal! Leandro Trossard for Arsenal! What a comeback.” Its volume reflects the importance of the touch. Context makes the equalizer the final act of a recovery.

The players are recreating, in seconds, how the match changed.

Who Wins Alan Smith’s Commentary Verdict?

Smith does not award marks for accuracy, timing or delivery. He says all three performed well, then decides that Jorginho “probably takes the gold medal”.

The qualifier suits the challenge. This is a preference rather than a formal result, and the disagreement supplies the ending. One of the players notes that the midfielder had already predicted he would be the best.

Confidence has survived the move from midfield to microphone.

When Did This Arsenal Trio Record On The Mic?

Betway Arabia published the film on 4 March 2025, while Raya, Trossard and Jorginho were Arsenal teammates. The group has since changed.

Arsenal and Jorginho agreed to end his contract on 6 June 2025, allowing him to join Flamengo. Trossard moved permanently to Beşiktaş in July 2026 after 174 appearances and 36 goals for Arsenal. Raya’s move from Brentford became permanent in July 2024, and Arsenal’s 2026/27 squad list names him as number one.

The feature consequently preserves one Arsenal group sharing a commentary desk, testing whether knowledge of the action can become a voice for it.

On The Mic was produced through Arsenal’s multi-year agreement with Betway, the men’s team’s Official Global Betting Partner. The film is embedded above. A commentator is expected to amplify the drama; gambling should not amplify spending. Keep essential money entirely separate and give optional play a firm ceiling. When a wager loses, let the result stand instead of following it with another attempt to recover the amount.
